As a leading metropolitan research university in Florida, the University of Central Florida sets an example for other organizations through its policies and practices, including those associated with the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
In the fall of 2012, UCF became an entirely smoke-free institution. Smoking of any kind is prohibited from any indoor or outdoor areas, including parking garages, grounds, sidewalks, and recreational areas. This policy also includes the use of e-cigarettes.
As of October 1, 2022, UCF is joined by at least 2,605 100% smoke-free campuses across the nation in keeping with a growing movement that spans both public and private sector areas to restrict exposure to toxic and human cancer-causing substances
Our Official Smoke-Free Policy promotes the health and comfort of the university community and our guests. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are expected to abide by the policy while on UCF property as stipulated in the Student, Employee, and specified Faculty Handbooks.
It is important that everyone participates in the establishment and maintenance of our smoke-free campus. This shared enforcement responsibility will ensure a healthy environment for us all.
